Murder, betrayal, and revenge run deep within this family’s veins. How far would you go avenge the deaths those you love? The Curse of the House of Atreus brings you a new adaptation of Aeschylus’s The Oresteia, the only surviving trilogy of Greek tragedies. An ancient story re-imagined. CALLING ALL YOUTH AGES 10-17

We are auditioning for 3 shows this fall including:


November 2-16, 2014
Various Calgary Public Libraries
Directed by Shandra Gallant
A performance of ballads and odes,
Sonnets, verses and prose. 
Scale the heights of haikus 
Rhyming couplets we'll cruise 
Where we'll end up nobody knows! 

This is a creation based process where actors cast will have an active hand in creating the script for the play. This show tours to various libraries all over the city and rehearses out of the Shaganappi Public Library on Tuesday evenings and Saturday afternoons starting early September 2014.

Whatever happened to Ichabod Crane?
You know the legend, now discover the truth.
Ten years after his mysterious disappearance, seemingly at the hands of the feared Headless Horseman, a young and idealistic New York City detective descends on the town of Sleepy Hollow to find the truth. What he finds is a community in shambles, where rumours and insidious theories
run wild, and a formidable yet unseen force committed to keeping the secret of Ichabod Crane buried forever. Join us on the adventure this November, but be warned, the journey to Sleepy Hollow is a dangerous one. Where the sun dies…hell is waiting.

Rehearsals begin early September 2014 and are Wednesday evenings and Saturday days at the Unitarian Church of Calgary.
This production will be scored live by the Zombie Sailor Moon Band.

In a cottage in the English countryside lives a boy.  Hidden away by his own family, the world has long since forgotten he exists until one day he meets a young girl, who learns the truth: he is a Prince of England... and that’s not his biggest secret.
Based on a true story.
Rehearsals for the Lost Prince will be on Tuesday evenings and Saturday days starting in December 2014 at the Unitarian Church of Calgary.

WHAT TO BRING/PREPARE
Please prepare a monologue, no longer than 2 minutes in length. Be sure to prepare a monologue that you like, that you can relate to, and that can show off your abilities. You will also be asked to read some sides from the shows. If you wish to read them, please arrive early to your audition. Your audition may include some improvisation and movement. Come prepared to play!
Please bring a resume and picture.
Please arrive at least 15 minutes early to fill out form and read sides.

COST: Please note that when cast in a production with CYPT, program fees will be applied. The cost is $460, including a membership fee as CYPT is a not-for-profit organization.

AUDITION TIPS AND TECHNIQUES

For youth ages 10-17.
Are you interested in auditioning for Calgary Young People’s Theatre or other companies about town, but you are nervous, scared or unsure about an appropriate monologue? We are here to help you! Calgary Young People’s Theatre is proud to offer a weekend workshop focusing on Audition Tips and Techniques.  This workshop will be taught by Mike Griffin. Mike has worked with CYPT for the past 4 years as an instructor, director and playwright. He wrote and directed the smash hit The Wooers’ Woods which was presented last year by the Calgary International Children’s Festival. This summer he is back to direct The Curse of the House of Atreus. He has a wealth of knowledge and experience and we are thrilled to have him back teaching this workshop!
