My name is Gabby Roy, I'm 13 going on 14. I am in grade 9 and I can't wait to go to high school next year. Although, my school years wouldn't be as fun if I weren't doing CYPT. I've always loved acting and did it in school from time to time, though I never really thought of myself actually performing on a actual stage.

Then I did a play in grade 7 called the The Wizard of Oz, and I played the Wicked Witch of the West. Only then did I realize my potential. I started to want to get into more plays and learn more about theatre. When I started getting so interested, my parents got me into a CYPT summer camp and I had a blast. We started to learn more about CYPT and that they actually let kids without experience, audition for a number of fun plays. So I took a shot at an audition and got in!

My first play was On The Loose with Dr. Seuss. The cast got to perform at a bunch of libraries and do our play in front of little kids, re-enacting some of Dr. Seuss's stories. The second play I got put into was The Daily Mischief. It was about a girl who starts a newspaper getting all the kids together because they believed the other newspaper didn't print the right stories. I played a twin named Alice and we had to try and make me look like the other twin. All those plays were really fun and I will never forget the people I met in CYPT.

I've made so many friends throughout each play and we always have fun. I loved the games we played in rehearsals to build our acting skills. Every rehearsal went by way too quickly! The play I am in now is called Charlie and the Chocolate Factory! You can imagine what a thrill that is. Overall CYPT changed my view of acting and probably changed me. I'm not as shy as I was before, I realized my potential in acting and I've gotten better at it! CYPT is something that everyone can do and it’s a great experience. I hope to be in CYPT for a long time.

Extra Extra! Summer camp was awesome

As the chill in the air sets in we bid adieu to our annual drama camps. Summer 2009 was a spectacular success, with young thespians exploring worlds of wizards, vampires and Shakespeare under the expert tutelage of local theatre professionals.

Keep watching CYPT.ca for more information about our spring break Drumma Camps and our 2010 summer camps.
