What’s New at CYPT?

Summer time is just around the corner and we can’t wait to jump in into the 17th season of Calgary’s largest summer drama camps.  Let’s take a look at what we at CYPT have been up to over the last few months!

Call for an Administrative Assistant

Calgary Young People’s Theatre is seeking an administrative assistant/ grant administrator to work on a full time basis in its office. If you or someone you know, has knowledge of not for profit management and would be described as a self starter, willing to tackle diverse challenges and tasks, get in touch with our Artistic Director, Mat Mailandt via email at cypt@cypt.ca or phone 403-230-2664

CYPT Season Spotlight

This season Calgary Young People’s Theatre put Calgary’s creative youth in the spotlight!  We had three very exciting plays that did just that!!!

On the Loose with Dr. Suess celebrated the 10 year partnership between the Calgary Public Library and CYPT. It was directed by Ethan Cole and toured around various libraries in November.

Raggedy Ann & Andy was preformed in the Vertigo Studio Theatre in December. The show was directed by Kristin Eveleigh. The cast had lots of fun together and worked very hard to bring this storybook adventure alive. A big thanks to the whole cast: Anastasia, Kate, Noah, Lisa, Amber, Jordan, Kieran, Lindsay, Jillian, Imogan, Rita, Liam, Larissa and a congratulations on a job well done!

The Daily Mischief, performed in February, was the World Premiere of a script written by Jason Long, a professional playwright and screenwriter!!! Jason has been part of the CYPT team as an instructor, director, board member and parent. We were very proud to bring his work to the stage for the very first time.It was directed by our Artistic Director Mat Mailandt. The whole cast: Vivian, Claren, Raya, Jocelyn, Brianna, Haley, Kieran, Imogen, Gabby, Carolyn, Lindsay and Kyle, did a fabulous job bringing this new work to life. Congratulations on a great show to everyone involved!

What’s Coming up at CYPT?

We’ve been working hard all winter to come up with a fun filled line-up this year. Summer Camps, fall and winter classes that will get kids on their feet and having a blast!

Acting All Year Long!

We had so much fun acting in our fall and winter classes!!!

Winter classes will be wrapping up in mid-April. This season we offered four classes including our preschool Act One program, A Little Bit of Everything, A Little Bit MORE of Everything and our ever popular Improv and Comedy.  Each class will have a final performance, where all of the hard work of the students will be showcased. A big thanks to our instructors who have worked very hard to give students an opportunity to be creative in our programs.

Fall and winter class registration and schedules will be online in early July, so make sure you check www.cypt.ca for full details.
