CYPT Presents William Shakespeare’s Macbeth

Calgary Young People's Theatre is thrilled to be presenting one of Shakespeare greatest works, Aug.6-8, at the Engineered Air Theatre. What do you get when you mix twelve actors aged seventeen and under, a professional artistic team and William Shakespeare? The answer is great summer theatre: Calgary Young People’s Theatre’s production of Macbeth. Professional actor and director Christian Goutsis, whose credits include Theatre Calgary, Alberta Theatre Projects and every other professional stage in Calgary, has been at the helm of this ambitious project.
“Macbeth is one of Shakespeare’s darkest plays. It explores humanity’s deepest and darkest desires, things many of us think but do not act upon. These young actors have not shied away from any of the challenges presented by Macbeth, exploring such themes as greed, deception, betrayal, revenge, and magic. Their commitment and passion for the script is amazing and not to be missed! Something wicked this way comes…”
This incredible play has been cut down to an intense one hour production. Come see the next generation of Calgary artists act in the tale of Shakespeare’s greatest antihero, Macbeth.
